Ubiquiti EdgePoint EP-S16 is an Gigabit L2/L3 outdoor switch with output POE on all 16 ports and input POE on the first two ports. With this product, you no longer have to pull the cables from the roof to the lower floors for each active element separately, or invent a complex solution including an outdoor cabinet, switch installation, power and POE. You now have all in one.
Connectors and interfaces
The device is very rich and includes (16) 10/100/1000Mbps Ethernet ports with PoE, (2) SFP/SFP+ 1/10Gbps ports, (1) serial RJ45 port and DC terminal block for direct power connection. The whole device is powered by an ARM processor Cortex-A9 with a 400MHz clock, 256MB RAM and 32MB of internal storage.
POE IN - Ethernet power supply for the EdgePoint EP-S16 has its limits, and for multiple connected devices it is recommended to use DC terminal power supply. If necessary, ports 1 and 2 are designated for POE IN purpose. The whole unit is powered via passive POE 54V / 1.5A by wires (+1, 2, 4, 5; -3, 6, 7, 8). If POE IN is used on ports 1 or 2, it is not possible to use the POE Out function on these ports.
POE Out - Ports are divided into two groups according to consumption and at the same time according to the wires over which the power is routed.
- The first port group 1-4 supports passive POE 54V or 24V / 1.4A and is powered on all wires (+1, 2, 4, 5; -3, 6, 7, 8). These ports are designed to power eg AF-5X units.
- The second port group 5-16 supports 802.3af/at or passive 24V / 0.7A. The passive POE is a power supply on the wires (+4, 5; -7, 8). Suitable for: PowerBeam units and cameras.
Advanced operation system
Designed for convenient management, the EdgeOS Configuration Interface allows administrators to configure and monitor switch features in a graphical user interface. The EdgeSwitch uses a sophisticated operating system that provides basic switching features, PoE configuration per port, and a variety of advanced features including: MSTP/RSTP/STP, VLAN, Link Aggregation, DHCP snooping, RADIUS, 802.1X and much more.
